Enough popular science: You actually know squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, large cell carcinoma and small cell carcinoma.

CCTV News:What kind of cancer is squamous cell carcinoma? Heard of lung cancer, stomach cancer and breast cancer … … Where is squamous cell carcinoma? In fact, it can exist in many parts of the human body, and it is mutated from the squamous cells of the body, which has to start from the "source" of cancer.

Cancer is a general term, which is considered to be a kind of disease originated from cell mutation. Related studies have found that mutations caused by DNA replication errors account for about 2/3 of the total number of human cancer mutations. Tissues with more cell divisions have a higher probability of developing tumors. Therefore, squamous cell carcinoma (squamous cell carcinoma), adenocarcinoma, large cell carcinoma and small cell carcinoma are all classified into malignant tumors according to different histopathology.

Taking lung cancer as an example, lung malignant tumors mainly include lung squamous cell carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, large cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer, and the first three can be collectively referred to as non-small cell lung cancer. For example, Li Lei is the representative of the English class in the class, the squadron leader and the head of the extracurricular interest group. When it comes to these titles, Li Lei is the only one. But when it comes to English class representatives, there will be one in every class in that school, not just Li Lei.

Closer to home, squamous cell carcinoma, as its name implies, has a "mutation" in squamous cells. Its location is common in skin, adnexa and mucous membrane. Generally speaking, it is easy to get sick in areas that are in direct contact with food and air, such as skin, esophagus, cervix, vagina and other areas covered with squamous epithelium. It can also be seen in bronchus, bladder and renal pelvis.

The epidemiology of squamous cell carcinoma in different organ systems is different, and the representative ones are as follows:

Squamous cell carcinoma of the lung accounts for about 30%-35% of all lung cancer patients, mainly central lung cancer, and peripheral squamous cell carcinoma is less. Many cases originated from segmental and subsegmental bronchial mucosa, which are common in elderly men.

The incidence of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in China is relatively high, accounting for more than 90%, mainly occurring in the border areas of Taihang Mountain, Qinling Mountain and Fujian and Guangdong.

Squamous cell carcinoma in oral and maxillofacial region accounts for about 58.6% of malignant tumors in maxillofacial region, and malignant foot tumor in oral mucosa is mostly squamous cell carcinoma, which is common in gums, tongue, cheeks, floor of mouth, hard palate and lips, and mostly occurs in the elderly population, especially in men.

Squamous cell carcinoma of eyelid ranks third among three common malignant tumors of eyelid epithelium. It is common in middle-aged and elderly patients. Both the upper eyelid and the lower eyelid can be affected, but the lower eyelid is more common. Especially in the transition of skin and mucosa at the eyelid margin.

Whether it’s squamous cell carcinoma or adenocarcinoma, I hope you don’t come to me. However, the situation of prevention and control of malignant tumors is still grim. In China, the incidence and mortality of lung cancer, liver cancer, gastric cancer, esophageal cancer and cervical cancer in developing countries are relatively high, while colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and thyroid cancer in developed countries have also increased significantly in recent years.

In January 2019, the National Cancer Center released data. In 2015, the incidence of malignant tumors was about 3.929 million and the death was about 2.338 million. On average, more than 10,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every day and more than 7 people are diagnosed with cancer every minute.

At the same time, the cancer burden is on the rise. In recent 10 years, the incidence of malignant tumors has increased by about 3.9% every year, and the mortality rate has increased by 2.5% every year.

With the process of urbanization and aging in China, the popularity of westernized lifestyle in the economic transition period, and the accumulation of environmental pollution and occupational exposure in the process of industrialization in China, the double burden of cancer in China will aggravate the overall morbidity and mortality in the future.

In June 2019, the State Council issued the Opinions on Implementing the Healthy China Action, proposing to promote early screening, early diagnosis and early treatment through the implementation of cancer prevention and control actions, so as to reduce the incidence and mortality of cancer. By 2022 and 2030, the overall 5-year survival rate of cancer will be no less than 43.3% and 46.6% respectively.

As the first person responsible for our own health, what can we do to prevent malignant tumors?

Tobacco control. As we all know, about 30% of cancers are related to smoking. At present, there are about 320 million smokers in China, who consume more than 40% of the world’s tobacco, and the number of smokers is increasing. Smoking causes 23%-25% of cancer-related deaths. As long as strong tobacco control measures are taken, the incidence and mortality of lung cancer and related cancers in China will be effectively reduced.

Vaccination.According to statistics, one-fifth of cancers in the world are caused by chronic infections, such as cervical cancer caused by human papillomavirus and liver cancer caused by hepatitis B virus. HPV vaccine has played an important role in eliminating cervical cancer. The effective use of various vaccines will effectively reduce the incidence and mortality of cancer in China.

Improve your lifestyle.Scientific research has confirmed that the cause of most cancers is related to lifestyle, while heredity and environment only account for 14% and 9%. Therefore, in the etiology classification, this kind of cancer has been classified as "lifestyle cancer". One third of tumors are mainly caused by four lifestyle factors, including smoking, unhealthy diet, drinking and obesity. Choosing a scientific lifestyle and getting rid of bad habits can effectively prevent cancer.

Targeted early diagnosis and treatment, timely intervention of precancerous lesions.According to the World Health Organization, 40% cancer can be prevented and 40% cancer can be cured through early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment. Early detection of lung cancer, liver cancer and gastric cancer can also greatly improve the cure rate, so early diagnosis and treatment of cancer is very important. Strengthen the early diagnosis of cancer lesions and nip cancer in the cradle.

It is an important means to standardize the deep integration of diagnosis and treatment and precision medicine and reduce cancer mortality. The concept of standardized diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors has long been recognized by the World Health Organization and the international medical community. Popularizing standardized diagnosis and treatment of tumors will greatly improve the level of diagnosis and treatment of tumors and reduce the mortality rate of tumors. Precision medicine is the direction of human medicine reform. With the continuous breakthrough of gene diagnosis and treatment technology, accurate diagnosis and treatment plan based on gene mutation information in different tumors can minimize the mortality of cancer patients.
